Okay, let's talk more about stockpiling! I hope I convinced you yesterday that stockpiling is a key aspect in making coupons work for you. Here are a few things to be aware of when you start stockpiling. These are things that I learned when I started this myself....
- You probably won't notice a huge difference in your budget when you start. The reason is that you will be getting more items than usual for a while. Your expenses may stay the same or even increase a little bit because of this. You will be buying more items than usual, but you will be using coupons to get these items at a great price.
- You will see the benefits of stockpiling in your budget after about 2 or 3 months. Once you have a pretty good stockpile going, you won't be needing to buy as much and you will start to see a dramatic change in your budget.
- Wondering where to store everything? Get creative! If you don't have a specific area in your home you can store everything, store things under your bed, in your closets, or wherever you can find room. Maybe you don't stockpile large items like toilet paper, but you stockpile the numerous other items that you could more easily store somewhere. You just need to figure out what works for you.
- The way you think about grocery shopping will change significantly. This was a hard transition for me when I started this process. I went from thinking what do I need this week at the store to this planning process.
- What do I have in my stockpile that I can make meals from?
- What perishable items do I still need to complete these meals, if any?
- What are the great "stockpiling" deals going on this week that I need to take advantage of?
